This week my Porsche 718 Cayman S got it's 'Fabspeed Supercup Turboback Exhaust System' (with sports cats) and ECU tune, and the results are in!
The work was carried out by Dynotech RS (http://www.dynotechrs.co.uk/) in Faringdon, Oxfordshire, UK.
The official factory figures are 350 bhp and 420 Nm torque. Porsche real figures are probably a bit higher than what they quote. With just the exhaust fitted and no ECU tune, the power went up to 387.4 bhp with 488.5 Nm of torque. With the ECU tune, 441.7 bhp and 586.3 Nm of torque.
It did get me thinking, why chase an expensive 718 Cayman GT4, when you could just buy a 718 Cayman S, get it tuned, and you've got a more powerful and much more torque-ey car, for less money. Especially if you're not into big shout-ey wings and aggressive styling, a tuned 718 Cayman S makes a lot of sense.
My car + ECU tune cost around £44000. That's for a 2017 car with only 7000 miles on the clock. If I compare against a Cayman GT4, the cheapest Cayman GT4 (it's not a 718) in the UK at this time is £62450 for a 2015 with 34'000 miles on the clock. 718 Cayman GT4's are still in the £90'000+ mark.
Power and torque curve below.
Note: The green lines are with the Fabspeed Exhaust and no tune.
