August 18th 2017: To Stansted and Back: ~ 225 miles driven (Clock to 405 miles)

On Friday 18th August I left home to go to Stansted Airport Mid-Stay parking. The weather was very wet and the journey didn’t start so well as I got stuck in traffic on the A34 (Friday daytime is always a terrible time to drive). My route to Stansted avoided motorways and was about 120 miles distance. The journey was uneventful (but every drive in the Elise is an occasion). Filled up the car with £17 petrol.

I parked the car in Stansted Airport Mid-Stay, and dropped off bags in the Holiday Inn, then came back to put the car cover on (first time doing this.)

Then, after a night’s stay in the Holiday Inn Stansted, it was off to Slovenia for a week’s trekking. The Elise had coped fine with my trekking rucksack, hiking boots, and other stuff (including car cover) - all packed into the car boot. It’s a very usable boot - one thing to mindful of is that the contents will get wet if it’s raining when you open the boot - if you want to keep things dry, keep them in the cabin where possible (things will dry quickly in the boot since it gets warm).

Returned on Saturday 26th with the car having been left parked for 8 days, started first time, and an uneventful drive back home. Put £15 petrol in the car.
