The
Exige starts this trip on around 4700
miles. The trip up to Croft-on-Tees (on Thursday the 14th) is around 250
miles. Driving to the circuit, 25 or so laps, and a couple of garage runs, let
us round up to 100 miles. And return (on Saturday the 16th) another 250 miles.
So, this trip takes the Exige up to around 5300
miles (I forgot to check the odometer before it went back into storage).
And the Exige was perfect every mile of those 600. Perfect on the track,
perfect on the motorway, and perfect on any other type of road in between :-)
For the Thursday
and Friday night I stayed in the Clow
Beck House Country Hotel. This really is a great place to stay. The food is
delicious. The hosts lovely. And proper tranquil.
The track
day at Croft Circuit on Friday was really enjoyable (organized by Lotus on Track). There was a very
interesting selection of cars. The driving standard was very good. A very
friendly bunch of people. And the Exige was outstanding.
It wasn’t
until my final run of the day that I switched on Race mode, and I think it made
a big difference. Admittedly, I was a little scared to switch it on, but once
on, the car felt no more difficult to drive, but definitely felt quicker and
sounded better too. I think it’s worth getting the auto box just for those fantastic
auto-blips on downshift.
