Facebook
On Facebook, in the Lotus Elise/Exige S2 & S3 Owners Club, I did come across a sale advert from Owner 3.
First advertised on 25.August.2023 for £50950
Final advert on 2.August.2024 for £40000
- Other specifications mentioned:
- Baffled sump
- Digital lotus dash upgrade
- Charge cooler fitted (extra 20bhp by reducing intake temps by up to 70%)
- Front tow eye kit
- Stage 1 stainless steel exhaust
Things I've Bought Already
Since the car will be parked outside house and not in a garage (I'm beyond caring about having a garage anymore, cars are meant to be driven and designed to endure the conditions, they are not made of paper, and - if you have the funds - you can always recommission a car.)
- Specialised Covers: Outdoor Plus (£500)
Because the car mats looked a little tired, I bought some car mats (+ some 20 x Double Sided Sticky Pads 20mm Diameter to the underside metal bit - because I don't want it touching the chassis and also to stick the mat in place):
- Autostyle car mats - Premier Car Mats (£70)
In my previous Lotus Elise/Exige I had used a phone mount that fitted the CD player. I actually gave this away with my last Lotus, but it wasn't perfect and "No. 17" doesn't have the radio in the same place. Then I saw this on Facebook and looks perfect:
The Lotus Badge looked quite worn so:
Tray dividers from:
- https://www.ebay.co.uk/ (£30)
CTEK charger:
- CTEK - Maximizing Battery Performance | ctek.com
- CTEK Multi MXS5.0T Battery Charger - Elise Shop
- Or Amazon (£110 for a bundle)
- MXS5 and cigarette lighter option: ETA Monday 09.06.25
- Extension cables arrives: ETA 11.06.25
Carbon fibre sill covers (because the existing plastic ones are a bit marked) - matt (not gloss):
Lotus keyring (I think no. 17 comes with one but a spare would be handy):
Nest security camera so I can watch over the Exige:
- Google GJQ9T Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired) (£90 from Amazon)
Outdoor shower cover - not sure I'll use it that much but a nice to have.
Things I will/might do/get
I think the car is pretty perfect, so really nothing much to do. But here's a list of things I would like to do:
- New number plates. Fourdot zero plate for the front (using 3M velcro to attach) and design plate for the rear - like I have done many times before. [Order: Sunday 15.06.25 PM]
- Fourdot | Shaped & Custom Number Plates | Hex Plates (£75)
- Amazon: 3M velcro (to stick the front number plate) (£13) (arrived)
- If I PPF the Windscreen I might need to replace the visor which I like (I like the gloss black script on matt black background). Does the PPF go under or over!? :
- Detail My Car - various things:
- Full detail with all the coatings
- PPF on front clam, side sills, windscreen and front lights.
- Blacken the indicator lights.
- Remove the passenger and driver side 240R stickers (makes the exterior completely sticker free).
- Fit the new Lotus Badge.
- (Maybe) Paint the towing eye yellow.
- (Maybe) Carbon Fibre sills?
And I really cannot think of much else. Maintenance regularly and keep it in tip/top condition.
Decided Not to Get
- LED Headlight upgrade - cancelled when discovered they are not road legal in the UK (Are LED Headlights Legal? | MOT Rules on Led Headlights | Resources | PassMeFast)
- Black carpet buttons - came from ORE engineering, but the postage is too expensive to buy these alone:
- Yellow microfibre towels from Amazon to go with the black and yellow interior scheme - decided I had something aleady that should work.
- Visit Halfords (so I can see what they look like)
