Another Temptation - BMW 1 Series 3.0 125i M Sport

Another temptation is this 2010 BMW 1 Series 3.0 125i M Sport for £7700 currently. 80'000 miles. Lovely blue paint and ivory leather interior. Very nice.

A small coupe with a 6 cylinder engine and a manual gearbox, perfect. Around 2010 was like the golden age of cars, before they started to get loads of unnecessary tech and ugly infotainment screens installed.

But £395 road tax.

I've been eye-ing this car for a few days. I've never had a BMW.

Truthfully though, I feel that I've moved on from regularly changing cars. I have my 2017 Cat-N insurance write-off Audi A3 184PS, which I bought in 2022, and this does everything I need a car to do. And it may just be the last car I ever buy. If I bought the BMW 125i, I'd still keep the A3 because it's more practical, and doesn't make sense getting rid of a perfectly good newer car for older car. I don't want to return to 2 car ownership again, 2 loads of expense, 1 is enough.

And I'm thinking about retirement now. When I retire, I might even go down to no cars, because cars are expensive. If you live in town and everything is walkable (supermarkets etc.), and you don't need to go on driving trips, then why incur the expense of car ownership!? (which is essentially a lot of tax)

But it is very nice ...

And £7700 isn't expensive compared to some cars I've bought in the past ...

Must resist 😆

Think about retirement... 😊
Think about being car expense free... 😊

Note: I'm not even 50 yet, but fancy retiring in my 50s, no point retiring too late when you are not fit and healthy enough to enjoy retirement. Also, in retirement you can live very healthily. Working 5 days a week or more, with work stresses, straining your eyes to look at computer screens, isn't the greatest thing for your health.
