You Need to Learn to Enjoy Driving Your Sportscar Slowly

Hello,

One thing I've learnt over the years, is that in order to enjoy your sportscar, you need to learn to enjoy driving slowly, and save the speedy times for a safer environment (like a track day.)

Where I live, the roads are so busy. Often, when you have the joy of an open road in front of you, round the next corner there is another car. The thrill of the open road does not last long.

And there are so many speed limits. So many speed cameras and mobile camera vans. And on nice country lanes you have to think about other road users, like cyclists, people walking their dogs, tractors, potholes, etcetera.

The roads are not meant to be fun. For most road users they are just a medium to get from A to B. And if you want to drive your sportscar fast, things can get very frustrating, and you won't enjoy yourself, unless you relax and learn to enjoy driving slowly.

It  is easy to drive slowly, all you need to do is take your foot off the throttle. The most skillful road drivers are not fast and not slow, but they are patient, aware of what is going on around them, respectful to other road users, and - the most important thing - safe.

Q: Do I enjoy driving my Lotus Exige slow?

Y: Yes. It's a fantastic driving position, I simply love being in the car. Of course, I'd much rather be going at a good pace, but when I need to be slow and safe it is no problem.
